“See you Glow” 2022

“See You Glow” was about creating narratives through a visual language and portraiture. Working from found images and imagination, this series explores narratives surrounding love, loss and friendship. The process was led by imagining stories behind a face and uplifting voices of the unheard. My practice is a place of escapism as someone who is an introverted maladaptive daydreamer - I channel this as a way of making sense of the world and processing personal experiences. A cathartic process: of self examination and revealing vulnerabilities. A place of reflecting through forming connections with pattern, paint and colour, as a way of portraying inner being and how it can manifest externally. This is part of a spiritual journey - becoming self aware of strengths and weaknesses - dissolving old and forming new. The patterns were inspired by my mixed Nigerian roots, Southern English Grandma's sewing, and growing up in Dundee as a way of connecting with my heritage and honouring my ancestors.
